Hidden Facts By Swapnil Baral** Author's Statement

"I began writing poems, not because I wanted to write them. It was because every feeling that came in my mind took the shape of poem. The emotional feelings are abstract and they originate from our hearts and minds. These feelings remain in the poetry. I have made several attempts of transforming my feelings into meters, verses, rhymes, imagery, symbols, and metaphors. And all these feelings seem to originate from my mind and heart through the perception of nature."

Swapnil Baral

** Scholar's Opinions

...I was intrigued and impressed with the boldness of the titles of the poems contained in this volume. They are personal. They touch you. They push the reader to be reflective and contemplative. Some even surprise you, for example, the poem titled - Rape Me Again. They are poignant - Rose and Mother...

Reading the poems of Swapnil Baral in the anthology entitled Hidden Facts is an exciting experience. Each of the poems beautifully unfolds the panorama of poetic sensibility and keen understanding of the prime spirit of life. Baral does have sparkling ideas on life, love, nature and scientific facts. The ideas find lucid and elegant flow in the forms of his poems. These poems embody a colorful spectrum of life. The present collection consists of different size poems which manifest varied moods of the poet. The reflective and meditative mood gets expressed in slow and serious type of long poems whereas exciting and emotional mood usually gets expressed in short, sweet, and intensive poems.

There is a deep sense of internal beauty and conviction in his words.  He has bridges the emotions of a mother's loss in war to a man child's remembrance of a mother's care.  He includes the many intrinsic values contained in nature and in mythological struggles (E.g.. Leda and the Swan).  Mr. Baral's poetry seeks the silent parallel of good and bad; roses and thorns; love and death and rape and birth.  He travels profoundly through the written word with emotion and sensitivity.

Writing poems might be simple but writing touchy poems requires both talent and commitment. Moreover, coloring poems of diverse contents artistically in the dawn of a writing career is challenging. In Swapnil Baral's first work, I have seen the use of both realistic and poetic truth. Strong in the art of using poetic arrangement, Mr. Baral has provided new dimension to his words by fusing different cultures. Also, the poems in this volume are strong in terms of ideas and musical emotion that create the state of tranquility in the reader's mind. I congratulate my son, Swapnil, for writing fine poems.
